Documenting storm damage for your Indianapolis claim

When hail rattles the gutters or the wind leaves shingles in the yard, your homeowners policy may help pay for the repair. A claim usually goes more smoothly when the damage is photographed before anything is fixed, so your insurer can see what the storm did. What’s covered, and how long you have to report it, depends on your policy, so check yours or ask your agent.

Call (866) 242-1832 once the storm has passed and it’s safe to look around. Some storms cost a house a few shingles and a dented downspout. Others leave hail damage on every slope, the siding and the gutters, and either way we start with a free inspection. If water is coming in, we can tarp the opening once it’s photographed, because your policy may expect you to protect the house from further damage.

Dynamic Restoration has been in business since 2008. Our Indiana team inspects storm-damaged homes across Marion, Hamilton, Hancock and Johnson counties. You report the damage and file the claim. We photograph the roof, gutters and siding, many shots taken by drone, then meet your adjuster at the house to go over what we found and help with the paperwork.

We don’t negotiate or adjust your claim, and we don’t represent you to your insurance company. In Indiana that takes a public adjuster licensed under IC 27-1-27, and state law (IC 24-5-11-10.5) doesn’t let a contractor act as one. The same law bars contractors from offering to pay or rebate any part of a deductible, and we never pay, rebate or waive one. For a coverage dispute, talk with a licensed public adjuster or an attorney, since nothing here is legal advice.

How we help after a storm

How your project runs

From the inspection to the final walk-through, we tell you what we found, what we went over with your adjuster and when the crew is coming.

  1. Free inspection

We inspect the roof, gutters and siding, photograph the damage and go through the photos with you.

  2. You file the claim

If the damage warrants it, you report it to your insurance company. You can share our photos and findings.

  3. Adjuster visit

We meet the adjuster at your home, walk the roof with them and go over the damage we found.

  4. Approved scope

Once your insurer decides what’s covered, we go over the estimate with you and build the job from it. Damage found during tear-off is photographed for your insurer.

  5. Build and walk-through

The crew builds the approved scope to the manufacturer’s specifications. Then we walk the job with you, and you pay on completion.

Indianapolis storm claim help for your home

Once your insurer approves the scope, we build it to the manufacturer’s installation instructions, and we tell you before any extra work that would change your cost.

  • A clear record of the damage

You get every inspection photo and our findings, so you have them on hand to share with your insurance company when you file.

  • Photos first, then a tarp

When water is getting in, the photos come first and the tarp goes on after, so your record stays complete and the rain stays out while the claim is decided.

  • Proven shingles

The approved roof goes on as a complete GAF system, installed by a GAF Master Elite® contractor.

  • A repair that matches the house

We match repairs to your existing shingles wherever the product is still made, and a full replacement goes on in the color you choose.

Questions about insurance claims

Don’t see yours? Call (866) 242-1832 and ask.

Call (866) 242-1832
Why did my first insurance check seem low?

On many replacement cost policies, the insurer first pays the actual cash value, less your deductible. The depreciation held back is often recoverable. Once the work is finished and you send proof, such as the final invoice, the insurer releases it. Not every policy works this way, and some set a time limit for claiming it, so check yours.

What happens if you find more damage during tear-off?

Some damage only shows once the old shingles come off, such as soft or broken decking. When we find it, we photograph it, show you and write up what it needs, so the insurer can be asked to add it to the claim (a supplement). The insurer decides whether to approve it. We won’t do extra work that changes your cost without telling you first.

Do I still pay my deductible?

Yes. Your deductible is your share of the loss, and it’s part of what you pay for the project. Indiana law prohibits a contractor from offering to pay or rebate any part of it to get your business, and we never do. Payment is made when the job is complete, and financing is available.
