Gutter guards for Indianapolis homes under big trees

If you live under big trees, you know how fast the gutters fill each fall. A clogged gutter can’t carry rain to the downspout, so it spills over the edge next to your foundation, and clearing it means another trip up the ladder. A guard covers the top of the gutter so rain gets in and most leaves, twigs and seeds stay out.

Call (866) 242-1832 when your gutters overflow in every hard rain or a downspout keeps plugging at the elbow. We can guard the one run under your worst tree or every gutter on the house, on new seamless gutters or existing ones in good shape.

Gutter Cap is the guard we install, and our Indiana team fits it on homes in Indianapolis, Carmel, Zionsville and Lawrence. In business since 2008, we start every guard job with a free inspection, where we look at your trees and your gutters, photograph both and show you the guard. If your gutters sag, leak or are too small, we’ll say so, because a guard on top only hides the problem.

Guards come in three broad types, each with trade-offs. Screens are the simplest and stop big leaves, but pine needles and seed pods slip through or lodge in the openings. Micro-mesh keeps out finer debris but needs its surface brushed off, and a heavy downpour can run across it. Hoods, or reverse-curve guards, shed leaves well but stand out more from the street and can overshoot in very heavy rain.

Where gutter guards help most

How your project runs

From the look at your trees to the last guard fastened, we tell you what’s in your gutters, whether guards are worth it and when the crew is coming.

  1. Free inspection

Call or book online, and a field representative comes out to inspect your roof and exterior at no cost.

  2. Photos of everything

We document the damage on the roof and around the house, so you see exactly what we found.

  3. Storm claim help

If you file a claim, we meet your adjuster, go over the damage with them and help with the paperwork.

  4. Materials and build

You choose the products and colors. Our crew tears off the old roof and installs the new one to the manufacturer’s specifications.

  5. Final walk-through

We walk the finished job with you and clean up the site. Payment is due on completion, and financing is available.

Indianapolis gutter guards for your home

  • No surprises at the roof edge

We show you the Gutter Cap guard at the free inspection, so you know how it will look along your roof edge before anything is ordered.

  • Less overflow at the foundation

With most leaves and twigs kept out, the gutter stays open to carry rain to the downspout instead of spilling it over the front edge.

  • Gutter Cap guards on sound gutters

The guards go on gutters we’ve checked for size, fastening and slope, or on new seamless gutters hung in the same visit.

  • Fewer ladder days

Clearing the guards now and then usually replaces a full gutter cleaning every spring and fall, which matters most on a two-story house.

Questions about gutter guards

Don’t see yours? Call (866) 242-1832 and ask.

Will I ever have to clean my gutters again?

Yes, just less often. Guards keep out most leaves and twigs, but fine debris still gets through or settles on top, and the surface can need clearing after heavy leaf drop. We won’t tell you guards are zero-maintenance. Water spilling over the front edge in a hard rain is the sign they need attention.

Can guards go on my existing gutters?

Often, yes. If your gutters are the right size, firmly attached, sloped toward the downspouts and not leaking at the seams, adding guards is a sensible upgrade. If they sag, leak or overflow because they’re too small, a guard on top just covers the problem. In that case we’d recommend new seamless gutters, with the guards installed at the same time.

Do gutter guards stop ice dams?

No. Ice dams start when heat escaping through the attic melts snow higher on the roof and the water refreezes at the cold eaves. Insulation, air sealing and attic ventilation address that, not guards. What a guard can do is keep leaves from freezing into a solid plug inside the gutter. If you see ice dams every winter, ask us to look at your roof and attic ventilation at the inspection.

How do guards handle pine needles?

Pine needles are the hardest test for any guard. They slip through screens with larger openings and can get stuck in them, while finer mesh and hood-style guards keep more of them out. Needles also pile up on the guard surface itself, so homes under pines still need the guards cleared from time to time. We’ll look at your trees and tell you what to expect.
